Too Strong

Don’t you just hate it when you meet a girl, you’re totally into her, but you just come off too strong? It’s like being back in middle school, where the best way to tell a girl you liked her was to slip a note into her locker during passing periods. All you can do now is think about what you could have done differently.

Other than that, I’m winding down my last semester in college. I’m seriously going to miss it. If I had one regret in life, it was being tied down while being away for school. Life is all about adventures: sitting at home waiting for a phone call or playing video games is a shit way to spend the best years of your youth. I like to think of all the new people I meet now, and how many more beautiful and interesting people I could have met. But this is no time for lamenting. It’s time for the real world.

Just found out about The Dean’s List. Their tracks “Youth” and “Hollywood” off their new mixtape are making the rounds on the music blogs. My goodness, the slick delivery and extremely blast-worthy beats combine for some hella good music. If this is the direction of rap, then I’m ok with this. Absolutely a new fan.

Wrong Emails

I got a picture message from an unfamiliar number in the form of an email. Apparently just assuming yourname@gmail.com is good practice. This isn’t the first time I’ve received email regarding another Joseph Shih.

Now that I have this picture, Patrick suggested that I Photoshop that Asian kid (who I assume to be another Joseph Shih) onto everyone’s faces.

Pretty good, if you ask me.

The big question is: do I reply back with this photo attached and tell them they have the wrong email address?

We’re back!

So 000webhost decided to delete all my data a while back. I wish I had a complicated and funny story to tell; the data is just gone. I log into my control panel and it says my account has been suspended for “Cancelled for Inactivity (Unmanaged or abandoned website that allows anonymous posting. MySQL database is overloaded with thousands of junk records. To get your account unsuspended please upgrade to our premium hosting.)” Then again, I’m over here complaining about a free host.

Luckily (maybe not) I had (some) foresight and made a backup of all my blogs in September of 2010. I’m currently being hosted by DreamHost under my awesome roommate Patrick‘s account. Click on that link for a referral, if you’re looking for affordable hosting. Unlimited everything for $8 a month.

So much has happened since September 2010! I wish I had some sort of blog to record it all in. My only regret is that I won’t be able to look back all these years and read about my thoughts.

Oh well! Winter break was so awesome! Aside from acing an epic exam, I got to go to Las Vegas! For the fourth time in a year! When I tell people that, the response is always about a gambling addiction. To be completely honest, I love Las Vegas for the getaway. The superficial glamour, the extravagance, and the tourist atmosphere make it worthwhile. The fact that I’m 1,800 miles from home just adds to the excitement. I’ll sign off with a beautiful group photo and a Kaskade track I’ve been blasting lately.

I’m only about 25% done with the mix, mainly due to the overwhelming amounts of homework to do. Mechatronics homework due Tuesdays, mechatronics pre-lab due Wednesday, low speed aerodynamics homework due Thursdays, spacecraft dynamics homework due Fridays, and linear systems analysis homework due every other Friday. Hopefully I can scrape together some time on weekends to complete it.

On top of that, our eccentric but amiable mechatronics professor assigned a group project where we have to take apart something that has at least “20 mechanical, electrical, or sensory parts.” One of the many tasks in the project is to identify some linear circuits and simulate it in a computer program. We chose an Xbox 360 controller and took that shit apart. I mean, I have a pretty good grasp of what a resistor does, even capacitor and inductors too, but…

Do you ever think about these things while merk’n noobs?

The immense workload had me thinking. Maybe some of this stuff we’re learning in class might have to be applied later on in life or in my career. I think it’s scary that I need to decide if I want to continue in atmospheric flight or space flight. It’s really a toss-up between the two. Both are equally hard, both are equally rewarding.

Anyway, back to the daily grind…

So I found out that people actually read my blog, and they actually remember my blogs from a long time ago. At the time I’m sure I wanted to put all that out there, but now it’s almost like a personal diary that I don’t want people to read haha. It’s too painful for me to even attempt to go back into my archives and delete or hide them, so if you have the courage you can read for yourself. Some pretty juicy stuff, apparently.

Also, I’m considering a new mix and making it my last. The feedback I’ve gotten from people are generally good, but personally I feel like they’re just not as good as mixes should go. What better way to prove I want to be better by quitting?

I changed up the theme for this blog. The old one was a little too… busy. I like this one a lot more, even though I’m still using the same header. Maybe I’ll get around to changing that too. Stage One Hypertension

On Wednesday Austin wanted to go to Austin. He needed to make a trip to move his stuff from his apartment to a storage facility. I’m not doing anything except bumming at home anyway. Plus, he drives a Mercedes-Benz now. He originally said leave around noon, but I couldn’t wait that long so I heated up a frozen breakfast croissant. He picked me up and we went to Fufu’s Cafe for lunch. Braised pork and stir fry lamb was so cash. We somehow got to the topic of Carl’s Jr. Austin has never been, and neither have I. I don’t think there are any in Houston. Well just our luck, there was one on the way to Austin in Bastrop. It was on US 71, too. So an hour later, I had half a Carl’s Jr. burger. Austin killed a whole burger plus a chicken sandwich. Another hour passes and we’re in Austin. I had originally planned on having tacos with Patrick in Austin, so we went to go get Izzoz Tacos down on 1st Street. I ordered only one taco because I was still full from Fufu’s. Luckily, we suspended our eating spree for a couple hours and hung out with Austin’s friends down at J26. Somehow we ended up at Plucker’s at 1 am where Austin ate a full on meal.

I was full until at least 3 am. Austin didn’t eat until the next day at 10 pm. I checked my scale and it read 175 when I got home. I usually hover around the 169-170 mark. Lots of laps at the pool to come this week…

But enough about that legit as hell eating. Here are some legit as hell tracks. I haven’t had a chance to check out B.o.B’s album since it came out in April, but thanks to Austin blasting it during the drive, I discovered this track. Such a good cruising song.

And I discovered Christina Aguilera’s Bionic album just now. Holy fk its awesome. Say what you want about mainstream electropop this album is pretty well done. One thing bothering me about this song is how the beginning you can hear a sample from Jay Chou’s “Blue Storm” (藍色風暴). Which is just a crazy tripped out song. Doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.
